Watching Hensley with all the kids at the diner, I can tell she’s thinking about the fact that she can’t have kids. It’s written all over her face. Even as she lied and said it was nothing. How easily she forgets that I can read her like a book. She wears her heart and her emotions on her sleeve. It’s one of the things I love most about her. I need to think of a way to prove to her that I’m in this for the long haul, forever. The thing with Lizette is still bugging me, and I will have a talk with her to figure out what her angle is.

Looking around the diner from the front counter, I see someone who isn’t a regular around here. He’s wearing a black leather jacket and a hat pulled low on his head. I sneak a picture of him on my phone and send it to Cline. I want to know if this is the same guy that was watching her a few months ago. Nothing else ever happened with that guy, and we never saw him again, but I’m getting that gut feeling that something is up with him. My phone vibrates in my hand, and when I look down, it’s Cline confirming it looks like the same guy who was watching Hensley before. I go up to Hensley and wrap my arms around her waist, kissing her neck, all while staring the guy down.

“What is with all the affection tonight, babe? Not that I don’t love it, I’m just curious as to what brought it on,” she says with a smile in her voice.

I inhale her sweet scent. “You just look so beautiful that I couldn’t help myself. Plus, once I get to you, your scent draws me in; like a moth to a flame. I can’t resist you,” I tell her.

I look up and see the man giving me an angry look. I cock my eyebrow at him in a silent challenge. He shakes his head and pulls out his phone. After making a call, he heads out of the diner. As soon as he leaves, I feel like I can breathe again, but that gut feeling is getting stronger by the minute. I think it’s time to call in some of my Army brothers to help me with what is going on.
